May/30 2018 Mint Room Studios Toronto Styled Shoot

I wanted to share with you this styled shoot from late spring. Once again , I paired up with Emanuel from Enchanting Foto. I have second shot a few weddings with him, and we always end have a good time shooting together.

Styled shoots give photographers and wedding vendors the platform to share ideas which they can pass to their clients. For myself, it gives me the opportunity to creatively push myself- from proposing the concept to vendors seeing it through in the final edited images. It helps me hone in on all the important details-grow as a photographer. I firmly believe in constant learning in this craft, it helps me keep it fresh and honest to myself.

I knew I wanted to have a cake focused shoot. I was hoping for a retro feel to the shoot. I approached Alexandra from Baking Up Treble. Her story of how she got into the wedding industry is interesting, definitely a much different trajectory from where she started. I enjoy finding out about people- how they come into the careers, how they met their significant other, etc. I have a perpetual curiosity for people, things- probably one of the reasons I enjoy photography so much. She does some amazingly creative cakes for her clients. She was patient with all my questions. As most people, that I have met in the wedding industry she is has a great deal of passion for what she does.

The shoot ended up slightly different from my original concept and much better than I could of envisioned. The final concept ended up being Cake, Lace and Crowns.

Jule from White Studio Bridal brought some gorgeous bridal robes (swoon worthy detail for capturing your getting ready shots). I had some beautiful accessories and princess worthy crowns and headpieces. The models rocked them! The simple elegance of the florals from Kimberley at Delta Dawn just completed the vision in the prettiest way possible! I am most grateful to all who collaborated with me that day. I also shot a few creative images for my own personal portfolio that day, that I am super pleased with.

I  have submitted the rest of the gallery to submissions, and I hope to announce soon where you can find these images.

Studio Loft Styled Shoot-A getting ready shoot April 2018

In mid April, in Toronto, you would expect you to see the first signs of spring- however that day there was an ice storm in Toronto. It did not stop this group of wonderful vendors, from putting together some great ideas, and some beautiful images.

The loft studio apartment was a perfect setting. Light filled, and packed with charming details such as an antique piano- perfect for capturing the beautiful and whimsical floral designs, from Jess at Periwinkle Flowers. Wedding gowns were from local Toronto designer White Bridal Studio-Jule Lee. Her beautiful and clean designs were interpreted with accessories and florals -from classic to bohemian. Not only are they beautiful- they are pretty budget friendly! I was constantly telling Jule throughout the shoot just how pretty her designs are. I collaborated with her again about a month later on another shoot. I am a big fan!!
